Thrunton Woods, Callaly, Long & Coe Crags. Forest, heather moorland and craggy ridge all combine to create an 11 mile (with 1706ft of ascent) adventure of discovery for members to savour and will involve visits to Humbleton Hill, Castle Hill, Long Crag, Coe Crags, Coe Hill and Thrunton Crag. Red way-marked paths and upland tracks reveal a profusion of forest and fell wildlife, centuries of history and some of Northumberland’s finest views. The walk commences from Thrunton Wood’s Forest Enterprise car park (GR 085097), some 15 miles south of Wooler. Thrunton Wood is planted on and around two steep escarpments of sandstone – Thrunton Crag in the north, and Long Crag/Coe Crag two miles to the south. These lofty crags provide spectacular viewpoints from which to admire the Northumbrian scenery.
