LittleTown - there's nowhere quite like the North-western Lake district fells for ridge walking. Stand on any high summits in this area and you'll see layer upon layer of ridge. The suggested 9.5 mile (with 4010ft of ascent) RED route stitches just a few of them together, dipping into and out of valleys and high passes along the way, to form a grand outing that takes in Rowling Edge to Scar Crags via Causey Pike; Ard Crags and Knott Rigg; and Robinson's infamous north-east ridge. There are one or two exciting climbs along the way, as well as several opportunities to feel the wind in your hair as you walk along the crest of Lakeland's fells.
