Causey Arch & Beamish Woods [Sunday 23rd January 2022] - Margaret Andison, Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Carol Lonsdale, Graeme Page, Ania Retkowska, Julie Rushton, Bill Sudder & Ian Thomson met up at Causey Arch for the 5-mile (with 655ft of ascent) YELLOW walk through a series of attractive woodlands, including the wooded gorge of Causey Burn. 

Hadrian's Wall from Once Brewed [Saturday 5th February] - Margaret Andison, Liz Beech, Lyn Boyle, Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Paul Gertig, Paul Huggan-Cammack, Jan Massey, Ania Retkowska, Bill Sudder & Ian Thomson met up at Once Brewed for the 7-mile (with 900ft of ascent) BLACK walk to Hadrian’s Wall via the Stanegate (a military road servicing the frontier defence).

Patterdale Weekend [24th to 28th February] - Lyn Boyle, Anne Marie Forster, Paul Gertig, Pauline Gertig, Jean Walker, Steve Walker, Caitlin, Shannon + 1 spent an enjoyable four nights on the magnificent Patterdale Hall Estate.

Wolsingham & Tunstall Reservoir [Saturday 5th March] - David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Jan Massey, Ania Retkowska, Ian Thomson, Bill Sudder & Ronnie Willison met up at Wolsingham for the 7-mile (with 909ft of scent) ORANGE walk through the Tunstall valley and around Tunstall Reservoir. 

Patterdale Weekend [17th to 21st March] - Lyn Boyle, Lynn Ford, Anne Marie Forster, Pauline Gertig, Ian Goodman, Natalie Goodman, Carol Lonsdale, Jan Massey, Andy Nixon, Julie Rushton, Ian Storey, Bill Sudder & Ronnie Willison spent an enjoyable four nights on the magnificent Patterdale Hall Estate. 

Bolam Lake & Shaftoe Grags [Sunday 27th March] - David Ellerington, Jan Massey, Ania Retkowska, Ian Thomson, Jean Walker & Steve Walker met up at Bolam Lake for the 6½-mile (with 540ft of ascent) YELLOW walk exploring both the lake and the impressive sandstone and heath outcrops of Shaftoe Crags.

Skiddaw [2nd April] - Margaret Andison, Evelyn Brown, Alfie Cowell, Lynn Ford, Anne Marie Forster, Ken Johnson, Ailie Langston, Graeme Page, Ania Retkowska, Alan Ross, Roger Smith, Jean Walker & Ronnie Willison travelled on the minibus to Latrigg where the majority decided follow the 10.6-mile BLACK walk (with 2674ft of ascent) to the summit of Skiddaw and return via Glenderaterra.

Staindrop & Cleatlam [Sunday 17th April] - Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Carol Lonsdale, Jan Massey, Ian Thompson, Ian Thomson, Jean Walker & Steve Walker met up at Staindrop for a 6-mile (with 345ft of ascent) ORANGE walk exploring Cleatlam and the boundary wall of Raby Park.

Borrowdale [Saturday 7th May] - Margaret Andison, Alan Bradbury, Evelyn Brown, Kay Costello, Theresa Costello, Alfie Cowell, David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Carol Lonsdale, Graeme Page, Ania Retkowska, Julie Rushton, Ian Thompson, Jean Walker, Steve Walker & Ronnie Willison travelled on the minibus to Seatoller for either the 9-mile [RED] (with 3300ft of ascent) walk to the summit of Great Gable (2949ft) or a lower-level 9-mile walk (with 516ft of ascent) to Keswick.

 

Applecross Week : [13th to 20th May] - Lyn Boyle, Lynn Ford, Anne Marie Forster, Carol Lonsdale, Ellen Morrison, Mike Morrison, Malcolm McVey, Ian Storey, Neil Waite, Jean Walker, Steve Walker & Ronnie Willison spent an enjoyable week in Applecross.

Barnard Castle : [Sunday 29th May] - Liz Beech, Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Carol Lonsdale, Ania Retkowska, Ian Thompson & Ian Thomson met up in Barnard Castle for the 8½ mile BLACK walk (with 575ft of ascent) along the Teesdale Way.

Grasmere : [Saturday 11th June] - Margaret Andison, Evelyn Brown, Kay Costello, Alfie Cowell, David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Paul Gertig, Graeme Page, Dek Parmley, Claire Price, Ailie Langston, Julie Rushton, Roger Smith, Joe Sudder, Ian Thomson, Jean Walker & Ronnie Willison travelled on the minibus to Grasmere where they met up with Lyn Boyle, Natalie Goodman, Ellen Morrison & Mike Morrison for either the 14-mile [RED] ‘Easdale Skyline’ walk (with 3750ft of ascent) or the lower level 6-mile BLACK walk (with 570ft of ascent) around both Grasmere lake and Rydal Water.

Auckland Park, Escomb and the River Wear [Sunday 19th June] - Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Carol Lonsdale, Bill Sudder, Ian Thomson & Ian Thompson met up at Bishop Auckland for the 7½-mile (with 625ft of ascent) YELLOW walk around the boundaries of Auckland Park and along the banks of the River Wear.

High Tilberthwaite to Coniston [Saturday 2nd July] -  Margaret Andison, Lyn Boyle, Evelyn Brown, Theresa Costello, Alfie Cowell, David Ellerington, Anne Marie Forster, Paul Gertig, Ken Johnson, Graeme Page, Ania Retowska, Alan Ross, Roger Smith, Bill Sudder, Ian Thomson & Jean Walker travelled on the minibus to High Tilberthwaite for either the 10½ mile BLACK walk (with 3396ft of ascent) to the summit of The Old Man of Coniston (2,632ft) or the 7½ mile BROWN walk (with 856ft of ascent) to Coniston via Little Langdale and the ever-beautiful Tarn Howes.

Alston and the South Tyne [Sunday 17th July] - Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Lestryne Keenan, Carol Lonsdale, Ania Retkowska, Ian Storey & Ian Thomson met up in Alston for the 6.25-mile (with 475ft of ascent) YELLOW walk along the Pennine Way and the South Tyne Trail.

Great Langdale [Saturday 30th July]Evelyn Brown, David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Julie Rushton, Bill Sudder & Ian Thomson walked around Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water. Graeme Page, Roger Smith & Jean Walker undertook a low-level walk around the Great & Little Langdale valleys. Alfie Cowell, Anne Marie Forster, Ken Johnson, Ania Retowska, Alan Ross, Ronnie Willison ascended the Langdale Pikes from Old Dungeon Ghyll and descended into Grasmere.

Cotherstone & Romaldkirk Sunday Walk [Sunday 21st August] - Theresa Costello, David Ellerington & Jan Massey met up in Cotherstone for the 6½ mile ORANGE walk (with 581ft of ascent) to Romaldkirk via the Teesdale Way.

Whitby [Saturday 3rd September] - Margaret Andison, Alan Bradbury, Evelyn Brown, Theresa Costello, Alfie Cowell, David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Graeme Page, Kishor Raichura, Bill Sudder, Ian Thomson & Ronnie Willison travelled on the minibus to Whitby for the diverse 13-mile BLACK walk (involving 1000ft of ascent) to Ruswarp and the mysterious Robin Hood's Bay.

Fontburn Reservoir Sunday Walk [Sunday 18th September] - Theresa Costello, David Ellerington, Jan Massey, Ian Storey & Ian Thomson met up at Fontburn Reservoir for the 8-mile (with 769ft of ascent) BLACK walk to Newbiggin Farm, Fallowlees, St Oswald’s Way & Blueburn Knowe.

Sandsend, Mulgrave Woods & Kettleness [Saturday 15th October] - Liz Beech, Alan Bradbury, Theresa Costello, Alfie Cowell, David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Ian Hammond, Andy Nixon, Graeme Page, Kishor Raichura, Ania Retkowska, Alan Ross, Bill Sudder, Ian Thomson & Ronnie Willison travelled on the minibus to Sandsend for the 12-mile RED walk (involving 1165ft of ascent) to Mulgrave Castle and the spectacular coastal path through Kettleness.

Dockray [Saturday 5th November] - Liz Beech, Lyn Boyle, Evelyn Brown, David Ellerington, Lynn Ford, Anne Marie Forster, Paul Gertig, Anne Marie Page, Graeme Page, Ania Retkowska, Ian Thomson & Ronnie Willison travelled on the minibus to Dockray for either the 6½-mile RED (with 1115ft of ascent) walk to Glenridding via Glencoyne Head or a streamer trip to Howtown and return via the 8-mile Lakeside Path.

Cockfield Fell and Butterknowle [Sunday 20th November] - Regretfully weather conditions led to the cancellation of the  7-mile ORANGE walk (with 300ft of ascent) wanders around Cockfield Fell before crossing the River Gaunless to climb up to Butterknowle.

Rothbury Terraces [Saturday 3rd December] - For the Club's final 2022 Saturday event Evelyn Brown kindly transported Anne Marie Forster & Ania Retkowska to Rothbury, where after meeting up with Lynn Ford & Ronnie Willison, they completed the moderate 8-mile BLUE (with 1276ft of ascent) walk around ‘Rothbury Terraces.

Durham 'Riverside & Woods' [Sunday 11th December] - for the Club’s final Sunday walk, David Ellerington, Carol Lonsdale, Claire O'Sullivan, Kishor Raichura, Julie Rushton & Bill Sudder met up in Durham’s Market Place for the 4½-mile (with 215ft of ascent) YELLOW walk along the banks of the River Wear.
